Detailed synchronization log message

What the Error Means
Error 80040421 comes directly from the Intuit Software Development Kit. QuickBooks cannot recognize the requested company file as a valid QuickBooks data file.
The most common causes are an incorrect QuickBooks year, company-file corruption, or a damaged QuickBooks installation.
Resolution
Complete these checks in order.
1. Confirm the QuickBooks Version
Open the same QuickBooks year that was used when the company file was added to the QQube Configuration Tool.
For example, if the company file was connected through QuickBooks 2023, do not leave QuickBooks 2024 open to the No Company Open window when QQube starts the synchronization.
2. Open the Company File Manually
Log in to the Windows user where QQube was installed and attempt to open the affected company file directly in QuickBooks.
If QuickBooks cannot open the company file, contact QuickBooks Support before continuing.
3. Test the Company Setup/Preferences Data Model
If the company file opens successfully:
- Sign in to QuickBooks as the Administrator.
- Place the company file in Multi-user Mode.
- Run a manual QQube synchronization for only the Company Setup/Preferences data model.
- Review the synchronization log.
4. Run the QuickBooks Tool Hub
If the Company Setup/Preferences synchronization does not show Success, run the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub.
If Error 80040421 Returns
Run the synchronization again. If Error 80040421 returns, select the latest failed synchronization entry and use Send to CLEARIFY Support.
In the support ticket, describe the steps already completed, including the QuickBooks version check, manual company-file test, Company Setup/Preferences test, and QuickBooks Tool Hub repair.
Review The Key to Success: Synchronizer Logs for log submission instructions.
Expected Result
The correct QuickBooks version recognizes and opens the company file, the Company Setup/Preferences synchronization completes successfully, and Error 80040421 no longer appears.
